Saying goodbye to winter

Goodbye cold!

The Winter season is almost done and its finally starting to get warmer. The perfect trend to start wearing now is the “over-the-knee-stockings” it’s not too hot or too cold. We say goodbye to coats and thick jackets and say hallo to stockings and light jerseys.

I remember the first time I watched Gossip Girl and I just fell in love with EVERYTHING! The one thing that stood out the most for me was the stockings Blair and Serena wore with their school uniforms.

Here are some tips on how to wear “over-the-knee-stockings”:

  • With short skirts and mini skirts. One of the good things about over the knee socks are that you can use them to include short skirts in your wardrobe. Depending on the sock you can pair them with a blue jean skirt, wool skirt or a plaid pleated skirt.

  •  With shorts. Wear a pair of over the knee socks with shorts you can go for cuffed shorts. Cuffed shorts make your legs look thinner and longer!

  • With short dresses. The fall of shift and A line dresses will look great paired with over the knee socks.

  • With long skirts and pants. When it’s cold outside this is a better option. They’re thicker than stockings and less constricting than tights.

The Over the Knee Socks with open heels are perfect and easy to wear, don’t be shy to mix and match different fabrics and colours between the open toe heels and the socks. Try some dark over the knee socks with dark suede booties. It’s not difficult to slip on long socks underneath your Hunter boots. Wear these socks with higher boot.

This is a really fun trend to do and easy, just be careful when matching colours and patterns AND materials! So go and have fun with this effortless trend.

Beauty: The mystical powers of Rose Water

This post is very close to my heart, every girl wants to feel beautiful and the first place to start is your skin. Rose water has magical powers and can be used for everything from head toe. Rose water is basically the leftover liquid remaining when rose petals and water are distilled together. It can be used for the following:

  • Beauty Skin Care:

Rose water is used for facial or skin treatment. It’s used as a facial cleanser, prevents aging, can be used as a moisturizer. Rose water cleanses the skin and is also a skin toner. For any eye pain or fatigue, gently dip a cloth in rose water and place it on your eyelids for a soothing feeling that helps cool your eyes. Rose water is also an astringent which reduces redness or inflammation of skin.

  • Drinking Rose water:

Rose water has flavonoids, anti-oxidants, tannins and essential vitamins like A, C, D, E and B3. Rose water is a mild sedative and anti-depressant. It helps relieve nervous tension.

  • Medicinal uses:

Rose water is a well-known for its natural healing properties as a good anti-septic, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory product. It’s also a healing agent can be used as sunburns, rub over the affected area or when taking a bath just add a few drops and relax. Apply over insect bites like mosquito bites that will stop the itchy feeling.

  • Hair Care:

Rose water strengthens the roots, prevents hair loss and revitalizes the scalp, can be used as a natural hair spray and hair conditioner, helps with split ends and dry, frizzy hair.

How to make rose water: It’s made using damask roses, when you want to make your own rose water the  type of roses you can use are most of the purple shaded varieties, such as Angel Face and Sterling Silver. All you need to do is store fresh rose petals in a jar filled with distilled water and place them in the sun for a few days.

Rose water really is magical. I have been using it for 3 months now and my skin feels and looks great. It’s suitable for any skin type and works for almost anything, its ancient but if you want the best results you have to go back to the basics! Nature is very mystical and can solve most of our problems or heal them.

A womans hair is her crown

We all love our hair!We need to keep in mind that we all are unique and that not all the hairstyles/cuts may work for our face shapes…

The Heart-shaped face

Heart-shaped faces are wider at the top and end in a narrow chin so the goal is to find a cut that helps balance it out.

Most jaw-length or longer hairstyles will suit you best, particularly those that flick out a bit around your chin. You’d also look great in a pixie cut, provided it’s closely cropped around the top of your head.

The Square-shaped face

The most flattering haircut for anyone with a square face shape is anything that helps soften up your angles.

Just about any length will flatter, provided you add a few layers to help frame your face and soften up the squareness of your jaw.Alternatively, you can wear soft curls or waves to help balance out your facial angles. As far as fringes/bangs go,anything that is slightly long and worn a bit to the side will help blur your naturally strong lines.

The round-shaped face

If you have a round shaped face you’ll be best suited to ;longer styles that help lengthen it out.

Anything with face-framing layers that ends a few centimeters past your chin will suit you best.Texture-wise,smooth,sleek hair trends to suit round faces as it doesn’t  add volume to the sides.

The Oval-shaped face

An oval-shaped face is considered the ideal in that it can pull off any hairstyle.

Trends to look out for:side braids, messy buns!!!

Work it ladies!

Fashion – Winter Wonders

 Bold jewellery, contrasting patterns-The Tribal trend
 Stop being dull-Mixing your usual winter clothes with prints and patterns is a very GOOD choice.
 It is a simple as adding a tribal or bright neon scarf to your outfit even if you are wearing just a T-shirt and jeans.
 ALSO the Colour-blocking trend is a “DO”…
 Coloured denim, a trend that will be around for winter and summer, it is very stylish but remember to keep the rest of the outfit simple (top and shoes).
 STAR PRINT-burst into the fashion scene when Dolce & Gabbana A/W 2011 show hit the runway. Wear it on jeans, shirts, dresses and any accessories to add that ‘sparkle’ to your outfit.
 The working woman-Brighten up any outfit with a coloured blazer.
 Dress to impress. Wear tailored trousers, opt for colours and prints.
 The Midi-Heel, No need to wear high heels, this is a shoe you can wear all day. Thanks to the Duchess of Cambridge for making this a ‘must have’.
 Choosing a dress-the shift dress and structured skirt is the look to go for. Pair your skirt with a feminine blouse, choose lace detailing, prints or bold colours.

Winter beauty tips!

As we all know as the seasons change so does our skin…
Skin essentials for winter(beauty tips)
1.Exfoliate your dull and dry skin
2.Say goodbye to dry skin:
avoid using products containing alcohol and soap-it dries out your skin even more.
3.”Moisturise to the Max”-In these winter months everything is  about more clothes, more heating…
Just like your skin needs(more)extra care. The cold weather and the use of heating systems “rob” your skin of moisture.
Your skin feels tight and sensitive. But with just a few changes in your daily beauty routines,it is easy to avoid these problems and to correct them.Treat your dry skin with body oil.Like the ancient Greeks and Egyptians did ages ago.
Aromatic oils even lifts your spirit and calms you. Thanks to the effect the aromas have on your brain.
Make-Up Trends for winter
“Classic make-up ” Tips
1. The bold red lip
If you find that long wear lipstick dries out your lips, add a layer of lip balm over the colour for extra hydration.
2. The “catchy cat eye”
To make this look dramatic, apply a second layer of black liner around the eye. Keep your skin taut to avoid any jagged, uneven edges.
3. The “smokey eye”
Blending is key and you should never be able to see where one colour starts and another one ends.
4. Full Brows
Since we tend to over pluck, start by cleaning up around the basic brow shape. Pluck all stray hairs that are obviously not part of the brow. Stand back and look at yourself in the mirror before continuing. One hair at a time.
